Preventive Dentistry

Preventive Dentistry is the overall practice of caring for teeth and gums and maintaining healthy oral hygiene. At Friendly Smiles Dental, we continuously encourage our patients to develop good oral hygiene habits such as brushing their teeth at least twice a day and flossing after every meal.  This simple yet effective practice promotes good oral health, lowers the risk of developing cavities and gum disease, and is key to having a beautiful smile.

Like many other health conditions, early detection of oral disease is crucial to overall health and well being.  Regular Preventative Care dental visits which often include dental exams, x-rays, and cleanings can help with early detection and treatment of tooth decay, gingivitis, enamel wear, and other more serious dental problems.  Since prevention is considered a necessary step toward avoiding costly dental problems, preventive visits are usually covered 100% or with a small co-payment by most dental plans.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Unlike general dentistry which focuses on treating oral health issues, cosmetic dentistry is generally used to refer to any dental work that improves the appearance of teeth, gums, and mouth.  Historically, cosmetic dentistry procedures have been necessary to restore teeth damaged due to an accident or serious dental health issue. But in the recent past, we’ve come to realize that having a healthy, bright, and beautiful smile not only enhances the appearance but also boosts confidence.

At Friendly Smiles Dental, we can restore the natural appearance and shape of your teeth, or enhance them to allow for the bright and beautiful confident smile you’ve always wanted and thanks to the many advances in modern cosmetic dentistry, we’re able to improve the appearance of teeth and smiles with quick, painless and affordable treatments.

The term “periodontics” refers to the dental specialty that pertains to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease that affects the gums and jawbone.
